Biography
Andy is the principal tubist with the Oregon Ballet Theater. A versatile artist based in Seattle, his diverse career includes orchestral performance, studio recording, chamber music, education, and arts administration.
Before joining the Oregon Ballet Theater, Andy was the tuba fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. Under the artistic direction of Artistic Director Stéphane Denève, New World is America’s orchestral academy—an innovative hub that shapes future leaders in classical music through top-tier performance, community engagement, and professional development.
Alongside his work in Oregon, Andy performs with world-class orchestras nationwide. In the Pacific Northwest, he is a frequent guest with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera. Nationally, he has appeared with the Boston, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras and has spent summers at prestigious festivals including Tanglewood Music Center, Britt Festival, Spoleto USA, Music Academy of the West, and the Pierre Monteux Music Festival.
Andy is also an accomplished studio musician with recording credits ranging from Emmy-winning television shows to major video game titles. Notable projects include Destiny, DOTA 2, and NBC’s Community. Additionally, Andy can be heard on two recordings with the Seattle Symphony: The Unchanging Sea (2018) and The Flying Lotus (2017).
A passionate educator, Andy enjoys helping tuba and euphonium players of all ages and skill levels develop their musicianship and confidence. He maintains a private teaching studio in Seattle, presents masterclasses at colleges, and serves on the faculty at the Midsummer Music Retreat. He also coaches for the Seattle and Bellevue Youth Symphonies.
In addition to his performing and teaching activities, Andy is a member of the Seattle Symphony’s development team. As the Symphony’s Discovery Officer, he connects with new and prospective donors, sharing opportunities to deepen their philanthropic relationship with the Symphony and support the vital artform that is classical music.
Andy holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Washington, where he studied with Christopher Olka (Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra), and a Master of Music from the Colburn School with Norman Pearson (ret. LA Philharmonic)
